How does the COVID-19 testing in the LAB TRUCK work?

In order to offer you the COVID-19 test safely, quickly and conveniently, we have developed our own LAB-TRUCK app. It serves as your reliable, trustworthy companion through the test procedure. Please note: The test itself is performed at the screening station at the self-sufficient laboratory of the LAB TRUCK by medical-technical personnel. The test will NOT be sent to you.

And this is how it works:

1.    Download the HG Pharma LAB TRUCK App
Download the app in the iOS Store and in the Google Play Store. Alternatively, you can continue directly on the website.

2.    Registration
In order to carry out the purchased test at the LAB TRUCK, you must register with your personal data (in the app or on the computer). This is essential in view of the test result. All data is stored exclusively on Austrian servers and the data traffic on your device is encrypted or decrypted to ensure absolute security and data protection.

3.    Selection of your individual test location & date
Flexibility is a top priority for us. Thanks to the LAB TRUCK’s mobile use throughout Austria, you can choose the ideal test location for you from a list of different locations. Afterwards, you can choose the suitable date and time.

4.    Buying the test
Buying a PCR test from us is as easy as buying a plane ticket: Simply add the test to your shopping basket in the app/online shop and pay for it. After your purchase, you will receive a QR code, which will serve as your “ticket” and identification code on site in the LAB TRUCK.

5.    Personalisation of the test
Once a test has been purchased, it must be clearly assigned to a person in order to secure the further procedure accordingly. If you have purchased more than one test, each test must be personalised. Once you have done this, you will receive a QR code for each of your tests. This code will serve as a ticket for the actual test at the LAB TRUCK and as an identification code – please make sure to take it with you in printed form or on your smartphone!

6.    On the test day
Please come to the screening station of the LAB TRUCK at the agreed date with your QR code on your smartphone or print ticket. Additionally, bring your e-card if you are insured in Austria or an official photo ID if you are not insured in Austria. Please, do not forget to wear your nose-and-mouth mask, as this is compulsory in a health care facility. Of course, you will also find appropriate disinfectants on site, which should be used. Please wait to enter until you are called by our staff.

7.    The test itself – a few seconds
On arrival at the screening station at the LAB TRUCK, your QR code is scanned and your test tube is assigned accordingly. The medical-technical assistants carry out the PCR test by means of a throat swab. This only takes a few seconds.

8.    Evaluation of the test – already on the same day
Afterwards, your filled test tube is assigned to a test station and evaluated directly in the laboratory. For you, the visit and testing at the LAB TRUCK is now complete.

9.    The test result – directly to your app
As soon as the test result is available, it will be visible in your app. You will also receive a push notification or e-mail once your test result is available.

10. Further procedure in case of a positive test
If your test is positive, the test result will also be shown in the app. Furthermore, the respective authority will be informed as required by law. They will contact you directly regarding further steps.

Why is the LAB TRUCK perfect for companies, institutions and organisations?

The high-tech laboratory on wheels comes exactly where it is needed and enables up to 4,000 tests per day.

How does the PCR test work?

Detection of SARS-CoV-2 infection is done by swab tests in the mouth, nose or throat and is performed at the screening station of the LAB TRUCK by healthcare professionals. In the laboratory, this swab is tested for the presence of the virus’ genetic material using a very sensitive method (the so-called “real-time reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction” – PCR).

Why is an immediate evaluation of the corona tests so important?

Corona viruses are enveloped RNA viruses. This means that the virus particles and their single-stranded RNA genome are therefore sensitive to surfactants and RNAses. For this reason, special requirements for sampling, storage and transport of samples have to be met already in the pre-analysis stage to avoid false negative results.


When using swabs, ensure that suitable swabs and transport media are used for virus detection. The samples should be sent to the laboratory as soon as possible! With the mobile high-tech laboratory, which is equipped with the latest laboratory technology, there is no need to transport the samples at all!

Do I have to install the LAB TRUCK App?

No. You can also buy the test in the online shop, register it on your computer and take the e-mail with the QR code to the LAB TRUCK/show it on your smartphone. However, for reasons of simplicity, clarity and convenient operation, we recommend using the app.

Do I have to print out my test ticket (QR code)?

No, it is sufficient to show the QR code on your smartphone. This is valid as a ticket for the test on site. Of course we also accept printed tickets.

Is it possible to postpone my booked appointment?

Yes, that’s possible. Please go to your app or log in to your customer account. There you click on the button “Change date” under the menu item “My tests” and can thus easily change the location and your date.

My account is suspended - what can I do?

Please click on “Forgot password?” and assign a new password.

Who benefits from the funding program Sichere Gastfreundschaft?

I’m participating in the funding program Sichere Gastfreundschaft. How do I proceed?

  1. Register with your personal data in the HG LAB TRUCK-app.
  2. Click on “Redeem safe hospitality”.
  3. Select “PCR test with throat swab”.
  4. Enter your personal entry number as well as your personal data to generate a QR code.


Important: Please create a new QR code for every single test.

Is the test result valid for trips abroad?

Yes, the test result is internationally accepted. Additionally, the result is issued in two languages (German & English).

Purchase of test

How much is the PCR test?

The test is 85.00 Euro. The Federal Ministry of Tourism provides subsidies for tourism and gastronomy businesses and even covers the entire costs.

Will the purchased test be sent to my home?

No! You will receive a QR code in your customer account after your purchase. This code is valid at the screening station on the LAB TRUCK at your agreed date, virtually as a “ticket”. The PCR test is carried out on site at the screening station by medical personnel.

Is it possible to buy a test for my child and make an appointment?

Yes, that’s possible. You can also use your personal account to buy a second test on a chosen date and register it personalised for your child. There is no age limit for the tests. However, minors must have the consent of their parents or legal guardians to take the test.

Can I purchase a test for other people and make an appointment?

Although this is possible in principle, we must point out that you are responsible for your actions. We therefore do not recommend it. Each person should create an account for himself/herself and use it to personally administer his/her tests.

Day of testing

What do I need to bring to the test? What do I have to do?

Please bring the following documents with you on the test day:

  • Your QR Code either in the app or in printed form
  • Your e-card, if you are insured in Austria
  • Your official photo identification if you are not insured in Austria


Furthermore, the general provisions for health care facilities apply:

  • The wearing of a mouth-nose protector
  • Maintaining the safety distance


Disinfectants are available on site.

Are there long waiting times for appointments?

No. Appointments are deliberately allocated according to the actual time required for a test and there is usually hardly any waiting time.

How long does the PCR test take?

The test itself is performed at the screening station on the LAB TRUCK within a few seconds in the form of a throat swab. The result is already available on the same day of the test and is displayed in the app.

What happens if I am tested positive?

If the COVID-19 test result is positive, the relevant authority is automatically informed. They will then contact you to clarify the further procedure.

What happens to my personal data?

All data is stored exclusively on Austrian servers of Grazer Citycom Telekommunikations GmbH. This ensures the highest level of data security in compliance with the so-called DSGVO (Data Protection Law).

My test result must contain a nasal swab. What shall I do?
